I am a long-time McCaffrey’s shopper but I have to admit that I just tried going to the new Whole Foods in Skillman as a replacement for my multiple-trips-per-week shopping at McCaffrey’s. Since adding the liquor department, the aisles have gotten crowded with displays everywhere. And when you try to find some wine or beer, you have to roam the aisles to find it if it’s not in the small liquor section. They no longer have a real fishmonger and haven’t since Sadie left, just retail clerks who know very little about their products. And good luck getting anyone’s attention in the produce section, the employees are usually in animated conversation amongst themselves. The meat department is the last differentiator for me and has become the only reason why I continue to shop there.

The Customer Service Is So Awful At This Store! No one is helpful at all, its like your bothering them if you ask for something! Just a terrible experience! Brought lunch from the hot bar!! Asked the young lady for ketchup & hot sauce since the container was empty and she said there is no more. I said seriously you have no more in the store & she says no. How can that be possible, this is a grocery store! But, Ok! Just Not A Good Experience

I want to call attention to the really wonderful customer service at McCaffrey’s in Princeton that I experienced last week. I was shopping with my friend and her seven-year-old and as it was not crowded, we opted to take this time to show her how to use the self checkout. An employee named Emmanuel noticed what we were doing, and when they were duplicates, he came right over to check to make sure that it was because we were buying two of the product. He took the time to give the seven-year-old tips on how to scan without causing a duplicate and said there was a secret code that the employees use. Emmanuel played this up and when she asked for the secret code, he gave her the PLU number for the produce so she could enter it. He not only was kind of courteous, but what above and beyond to teach her in an age-appropriate way, and it made her feel so grown up and involved in the process. I will definitely be taking any kids in my care to this location in the future!

I went shopping at McCaffrey’s Princeton and was in awe! The store looked like a winter wonderland filled with everything that I needed for the holidays. The displays were very well-presented and they have so many Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers, I personally bought hot chocolate sticks and Godiva gift box for my kids teachers. The staff is very pleasant and go above & beyond! I was very pleased with my experience at McCaffrey’s and will be returning again for all my holiday shopping needs!

Small but extensive grocery store, part of a tiny regional chain. Has its own brands of fresh meats and other products, and everything is of the highest quality. The staff is friendly and courteous and goes the extra distance to serve their customers. The tradeoff is that their prices are noticeably higher than the big chain grocery stores; a shopping trip here may run upwards of 20% more than you might pay at Shop-Rite or Stop 'n' Shop.
